Untitled True Event Film (Bong Joon-ho, 202?)

Bong Joon-ho is planning an English-language film based on "a true event that happened in 2016." It'll be set half in the US and half in the UK.

My guess is that he's not referring to a major event but some odd item he stumbled upon in a newspaper or something.

The article says that "Both projects are not big films. They’re the size of “Parasite” or “Mother.”"

Considering that, it couldn't be about Brexit/American Election 2016. Both events, but especially the latter, are generation-defining epic events. I think it is going to be something much smaller. I can't imagine Bong making a film about US partisan politics.
