Re: Criterion Web Site

Has anyone else had their order cancelled on them? I went online to see if my order was shipping soon since I have received no emails since the sale. It was originally supposed to go out Nov. 7, but now everything is in but The Circus, which is delaying it until Nov. 25. I saw a note about my credit card not going through, so I added my newest CC & pressed "update payment" & deleted my old cards in case it was trying to use them. I then get an automatic statement saying my order is cancelled.

What I mean is that it can be ordered today as opposed to waiting until next Tuesday. (And Old Joy is too!)

It looks like the discount applies to all their upcoming releases—though I’d hold off on the February titles, since there should be a flash sale sometime that month.

Question... the 30% off applies to the 31.96 and not the SRP 39.99?

That’s why I asked. It’s confusing. Then it’s not that big of a sale.

Not unless you really can't wait until February. It's really just good for their gift shop items

Yeah what glowingwabbit said and even then you might as well order $50 of stuff for free shipping. This 30% off is not worth it especially if you're wanting 1 title or even a box set. Amazon still has near half off prices for a number of titles

Does Criterion still add the full msrp of loyalty points for items bought during their flash sales? If so I'm looking to add one more title to my list so I can reach the gift certificate goal

I don’t think they’ve ever done that, or at least not since I started collecting a little more than five years ago. You get a point for every dollar you spend rounded down, so if a $39.95 title is half off, you’ll get 19 points for it during the flash sale. If you bought it right now at the always discounted price of say $31.96, you’ll get 31 points.

Are we expecting the flash sale to go down tomorrow? If I'm remembering correctly, it falls on a Tuesday in February. With Teorema and the Antonio Gaudi upgrade, it would seem likely. (My preference would be next week, so I can snag Paris is Burning!)

It tends to be later, sometimes in March. Two signs usually go out: $10 vouchers for Channel subscribers in the week or so preceding and then people above some crazy loyalty threshold (like 3000+) get a heads-up the night before. So it shouldn’t be tomorrow as no one has reported getting this message.

When criterion announced a box set for February 25, I figured it was a given that day would be the flash sale.

I didn’t know about the special heads up some people get so that’s the best piece of evidence it wouldn’t be coming today if that’s true, but it doesn’t need to be in March. I believe it was Valentine’s Day sometime within the last few years. Plus wasn’t the $10 for criterion channel subscribers a one or two time thing so far? I expect it to be on the day of the Zeman box too.

The Valentine's Day sale coincided with the release of The Silence of the Lambs and Night of the Living Dead on the same day. Usually the best indicator as you and others have said is a big release day. It's almost 100% February 25th with the Zeman box and Paris is Burning, especially since there's nothing the next Tuesday and then just Salesman on 3/10.

Any word about a flash sale? Are we thinking March more than February?

Yeah, I would love it if Salesman and Showboat were both available on 3/10.

Someone over at Blu-Ray.com received an email stating the flash sale starts at noon tomorrow.

(I’m happy to report, as every time this thread gets bumped on a Monday or Tuesday in February an angel loses its wings.)
