Hopefully this means the Color Wheel is also coming, since this was included on the limited edition DVD. Maybe they're going to do a Complete Alex Ross Perry box?

As a huge Gravity's Rainbow fan, I felt obligated to track down a copy of Impolex. I can't say I enjoyed it much except for Katje's soliloquy at the end. It's the only thing I've seen from Alex Ross Perry at this point.

I'll eventually get to the main feature on the release with Impolex -- The Color Wheel -- but Impolex honestly didn't spur me to seek out his other work. Is there any work of his that people can particularly recommend?

I strongly recommend watching the Color Wheel-- I thought Listen Up, Philip showed promise but didn't quite work, and hated Queen of Earth (though mileage will vary there, many here liked it a lot), but the Color Wheel is bold and brilliant

I loved The Color Wheel, but everytime I hear Alex Ross Perry in an interview, he drives me bananas. He comes off as a smarmy, rich kid. Even then, in my personal peer group, I have been the only one to like that film. I had a few friends in indie distribution when it came out and they all absolutely loathed it.

His name is Alex Ross Perry and he dresses like a smarmy rich kid so he must be a smarmy rich kid.

Thankfully even smarmy rich kids can make great art

Listen Up Philip was a great exploration of a grade A asshole, found Queen of Earth interesting but very flawed, haven't seen the rest

There's also going to be a conversation between Alex Ross Perry and Robert Greene (ACTRESS, KATE PLAYS CHRISTINE) coming to Filmstruck/The Criterion Channel.
I know this because I was there. In retrospect, I should have sneaked a picture. But I do have this.

There's also set to be a similar feature on Filmstruck for the Ross Brothers and/or their film "45365". I don't know why I never posted these to the main Forthcoming thread.

Hasn't he personally lobbied to make sure his films were released on DVD only in the US and not on Blu-ray as he preferred the medium?

Well, presumably Criterion would ignore those idiotic wishes just like MoC has

What? When did he say that? Seems strange for someone who is so committed to shooting on film plus he was heavily involved with the MoC edition of Listen Up Philip.

Have you read the interview he did for Jezebel? He comes off as a total fuckwit. The interview is amazing, as it becomes clear that ARP is hanging himself, and the interviewee is only to pleased to hand him more rope.

To be fair, I hate whoever wrote this immediately upon starting this hit piece and lines like, "His movies are overwhelmingly white, and I thought it was important to interrogate why" don't help as it goes along

They have an expiration date of May 2, 2018, and only open with the Criterion Channel logo, not the Criterion Collection logo. Odds are not good that they will be physically released in the spine-numbered main line.

At the very least Impolex is coming (per the first post in this thread!).

Thought I'd heard Criterion might be releasing some Alex Ross Perry when I saw this BBFC submission for Golden Exits.

Could just be for a barebones DVD, but Sony UK don't often bother doing that with indies like this, so the mere fact they've submitted it for home video may mean a Criterion release is on the horizon. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Either way, Criterion are likely to get hold of it eventually seeing as it's a Sony title (as they did with Reichardt's Certain Women).

Note: Perhaps Impolex is being included as an extra?

Perry is doing a reddit AMA today, and he said that Impolex's restoration was just for Filmstruck and they didn't license it from him for home video.

Props to him for answering some of the more hostile questions, and we learned that Elizabeth Moss smells like chewing gum
