We've discussed this to death already. Please take a look around the forum before reposting the same stuff - there's a thread for this release and everything!

What if we get a mega set every year now, but, the Godzilla box isn't this year's?

Just saw an article posted today on AV Club, that David Cronenberg’s Crash has been given a 4K remaster that will premiere at the Venice Film Festival. Hopefully, Criterion will finally bring it back into the Collection soon! Below is the link:

Jonathan Keogh tweets that an announcement is coming tomorrow:

Which, I know eyes will roll but, it’s a little too coincidental that that’s coinciding with the Kubrick Collection announcement tomorrow. I’m willing to be now that that Spine #1000 ends up being a Kubrick Collection that’s a Criterion / Warner collaboration and the Godzilla set comes later on.

That would really be quite something if it turns out

There's an impressively full-featured Shining UHD release coming in October already, you mean to tell me Criterion's also going to put out the umpteenth Kubrick Blu-ray set the same month? Pfft

A Kubrick UHD box would pretty much be the biggest home video release of the year, in addition to being incredibly annoying because of all the times I've bought these films before. I'm thinking its neither UHD, nor Criterion, though.

I'd be overwhelmed with happiness if #1000 turned out to be a Kubrick box set. However, I'm with mfunk on this one --- it does not not make sense. Expect to continue to be disappointed by a Godzilla box set. God, it pains me to say that.

Mark my words, which hold no weight and bear no consequence if I am wrong: Spine 1000 will NOT be a Kubrick set

Unless it's an Eyes Wide Shut dual format with a Jeffrey Epstein and Bill Clinton commentary, it would be an absolutely insane spine #1000

But apparently the only ones ready to be put on UHD are The Shining, 2001 and A Clockwork Orange.

So Warner is counting down to announcing a Kubrick boxset with what 2-3 UHDs and the rest recycled Blu-Rays?

And the timing is too coincidental and when has Warner ever hyped up a set like this that would essentially just be a reissue?

AND the cherry on top... it’s being announced 10:00 BST time

Has there been a Kubrick box set with all his films? The one I have goes from Lolita to Eyes Wide Shut. Most of the earlier stuff was United Artists. MGM owns that now, right? But...Warner owns the pre-1986 MGM stuff. Does that include UA?

To me, the question is: Do we think Warner is putting together a complete Kubrick? If so, that seems like something Criterion might release. If not, then it seems like this teaser is for a UHD version of the Lolita to Eyes Wide Shut set. We shall see.

Warners has rereleased Kubrick films multiple times already, that should be no one's evidence

The box set mock-up that was posted on a Facebook looks nothing like a Criterion release, the countdown website mentions the Criterion Collection exactly nowhere in its colophon, and Warner Brothers is the one doing the announcement themselves. To my knowledge, Criterion has never partnered with a company to announce a release. The Shining is also mentioned in that copyright info blurb, and we know from the HTF podcast that Criterion won’t be in the business of 4K releases any time soon. I know it seems like a big coincidence, but so did the delay until Wong Kar-Wai’s birthday, and then the delay until the 20th anniversary of Eyes Wide Shut, etc. There’s far more evidence against this being spine 1000 than there is for it, and there’s too much *better* evidence that Godzilla is.

How has Warner hyped this up when this is the first I'm hearing of a Kubrick collection? I read this and the BR forums everyday too. I literally can't even.

There’s a whole countdown timer to it with its own dedicated website!

Okay, look, if Spine 1000 doesn’t end up being the Kubrick set now I’ll eat my own shoe.

Kcota, there’s a great bit in one of the extras on The Gold Rush that details how Chaplin made an edible boot out of licorice. Apropos of nothing...

This appears to be a photo of whatever Kubrick thing is being announced by Warner Bros tomorrow. No spine number or any indication that Criterion's involved:
