At least Affliction is getting a North American Blu-Ray finally.

A line-up that includes Rolling Thunder and Affliction, both written by Schrader, is hardly a dumpster fire in my opinion. I need to rewatch The Faculty but there too I can think of worse titles to announce.

Honestly, I'm actually kind of tempted by a 4K of Lost in Space. It was no surprise that it never led to a franchise (it's terrible), but there was something so bizarre about it. It was half an idea based on a camp TV show that somehow got William Hurt and Gary Oldman to sign on while also knocking Titanic out of the top spot. Maybe I'm more interested in the potential features about it... Or the potential retrospective interview with Matt LeBlanc.

Edit: Just noted it was Blu-ray. Ugh, pass.

Great slate. The Faculty and Rolling Thunder were inevitable, but welcome upgrades, and Affliction is a strange, mature film about trauma that -like a trauma survivor- sublimates and detours symptoms to make itself seem like it's about anything but trauma. It's a film I admire a lot more than I enjoy.

I am happily surprised that they didn't relegate Affliction to one of their site exclusive limited editions.

More limited edition nonsense from those clowns at Shout:
Jill Rips
Classic Tokusatsu Collection: Prince Of Space (1959), Invasion Of The Neptune Men (1961), Watari The Ninja Boy (1966), Golden Ninja (1966), Dragon Showdown (1966), And Ninja Scope (1969).

The Tokusatsu set is already down to under 280 copies, because there is an actual market for these.

Should we start putting bets on scalper prices now? My money’s on $165 as the average eBay price.

Golden Bat is a blast by Hajime Sato, director of Goké, Bodysnatchers from Hell. Sad to see it dumped in an over-priced box set with an odd title change.

Is the stock listing just for the first 600 copies that come with a poster or for the full limited run of the release?

Shout responded on facebook that the current countdown is just tracking the copies w/ poster.

I assumed that they just tracked the total copies for the site limited editions not just the posters. So I guess it isn't selling as fast as I thought.

And yes, the title change for Golden Bat is inexplicable.

Killer Klowns on 4K is wonderful and it surprises me that it took this long for it to happen but besides that and maybe Gretel & Hansel which seems interesting, this is a dumpster fire of a lineup.

The Island of Dr. Moreau isn’t a Richard Stanley film.

I wouldn’t say that, it’s more of a punishment to have a passion project that was taken away from Stanley get a “Boutique” release than anything else.

Good point

Anyway, Google search seems scrubbed of articles relating to the allegations, except a few notices about charges being brought against the accuser, so maybe he should be out of physical media jail. But that's for another thread.

Let me guess: they’re gonna pair Moreau with the Lost Souls documentary (both already readily available) and call it a Select edition and charge too much.

Not that the film deserves much more but anyone who pays more than five bucks for Moreau is insane. The old Blu is a bargain bin disc.

Too bad they’re not doing Dracula 3000, which is insanely terrible and a hoot to watch.
